Boy Dies After Leaping From 2nd-Floor Window of New Jersey Elementary School in Apparent Suicide

By Brian Thompson

A student at a New Jersey elementary school plunged to his death from a second-story window in what police are investigating as a suicide, a law enforcement source familiar with the case tells NBC 4 New York.

The boy, in fifth grade at Grant Elementary School in Dumont, was initially taken to a hospital in critical condition after the jump around noon Friday, authorities say. The source said he later died at Hackensack University Medical Center later in the afternoon.

A law enforcement source said the boy got into a dispute with a classmate during a game of chess. Afterward, the boy passed his classmate a note, then went to the window, opened it and jumped, the source said.

Schools superintendent Emmanuel Triggiano said there were other students in the classroom at the time.

“We provided them with some assistance, and we’re going to continue to provide them with assistance through the weekend and on Monday,” said Triggiano.

The school had a regular dismissal, but some parents took their children out early.

A portion of the building was taped off as police investigated.

Police in Delaware issued Amber Alert for Elinor Trotta, 3, on February 23, 2015 NEW CASTLE COUNTY (DELAWARE) POLICE DEPARTMENT

NEW CASTLE, Del. — Police in Delaware have issued an Amber Alert for a 3-year-old girl who they say was kidnapped by her father after he assaulted her mother.

New Castle County Police say the FBI is helping in the search.

They say the girl’s mother called them Monday night to report that her ex-boyfriend had just come to her home, assaulted her, and taken Elinor. Police believe Trotta may have fled with the girl to New Jersey or New York City.

He’s described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, balding, and with a scruffy beard and mustache. Elinor is 60 pounds with brown shoulder-length hair and was last seeing wearing a purple puffy coat, pink pants and “Frozen” sneakers.

Police say they found a 1989 gray Mazda Trotta is believed to have used to flee and, “It is now believed that he could be operating a bright red colored SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer.”

Phoenix woman dies after giving birth to quadruplets

PHOENIX — A woman died hours after giving birth to quadruplets at a Phoenix hospital, a close friend of the family said Saturday.

Erica Morales, 36, never got to hold her newborns before she passed away early Friday morning after a C-section surgery at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, Nicole Todman said.

Erica Morales, seen in an undated photo, died on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, in Phoenix, Arizona, hours after giving birth to quadruplets.

“They were transporting her from the surgery to whatever room, and she was still unconscious at that point. So, no, she never got to see them,” Todman said.

Morales was about seven months into her pregnancy when she delivered three girls and one boy Thursday, according to Todman. She has been one of the few able to visit the premature newborns and said they are doing well.

“They’re beautiful,” Todman said. “They have tubes in their mouths and their noses. They’ve got little monitors and wires all over their body.”

The infants will likely remain hospitalized for the next two months while doctors help them to get stronger and each reach a goal weight of five pounds, Todman said. Currently, they all weigh between just above two pounds to just above three pounds, she said.

Morales was initially hospitalized for high blood pressure. Complications ensued before Morales was taken into surgery, Todman said. She does not know what led to her passing.

“I don’t even care to know,” Todman said. “It doesn’t matter why. She’s still gone.”

Hospital spokeswoman Toni Eberhardt declined comment Saturday, but she released a statement from the hospital: “Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with the family during this very difficult time.”

Morales, a real estate agent, and her husband, Carlos, who works in manufacturing, had been trying to conceive a baby for two years, Todman said. She said Morales tried everything from acupuncture to fertility treatments. Morales suffered a miscarriage before becoming pregnant last June.

Todman, who has been best friends with Morales since childhood, said Morales was more nervous about being a new mother than raising four children at once. Because of her previous miscarriage, Morales was apprehensive about getting too excited about the babies’ arrival. She mainly focused on doing things correctly throughout her pregnancy such as eating enough, Todman said.

“Her focus of her pregnancy was to make sure she did everything to make sure they were healthy so she was able to bring them into this world — and she did,” Todman said.

On Friday, Todman started a GoFundMe fundraising website for Carlos Morales and the infants on Friday. The site had received more than $30,000 in donations as of Saturday evening.

“I’m so grateful for the overwhelming support and the wonderful comments, and so are Carlos and Sandra, Erica’s mother. They are so entirely grateful,” Todman said.

Mother charged with murder in setting baby on fire in road

Mother charged with murder in setting baby on fire in road

PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A New Jersey woman who prosecutors say put her newborn baby in the middle of the road and set the child on fire has been charged with murder.

Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier, 22, was jailed Saturday on $500,000 bail, Burlington County prosecutors said. It wasn’t known if she has retained a lawyer.

Police responded to a call late Friday about a fire in the middle of a residential road in Pemberton Township, about 30 miles east of Philadelphia. Officers found the baby in flames and put out the fire. The child was taken to a hospital, where she died about two hours later.

Prosecutors say the mother doused her baby with an accelerant then set her on fire. They do not have a motive. The mother was taken into custody Friday night.

Dave Joseph, 45, of Pemberton, told the Burlington County Times that he saw a young woman get out of her car and light something on fire in the middle of the road. He said the woman told him she was burning dog waste.

Joseph said the woman appeared calm and soon tried to flee the scene, but residents stopped her.

“It was just mind-boggling,” Joseph said.

ISIS Shock Video Shows Little Boy Executing 2 Alleged Russian Spies

The latest ISIS propaganda video has it all: thrilling interviews, cutting-edge graphics, and perhaps the youngest jihadist ISIS has ever recruited.

CBS News reports that the video was released by ISIS’s multi-lingual production wing, al-Hayat.

The film shows the alleged execution of two Russian spies, both at the hands of a small boy.

Interviews are conducted with each hostage, revealing them to be members of Russian Intelligence who were caught attempting to infiltrate ISIS in Syria and Turkey.

One of the men claims to have been a Muslim before betraying his Islamic counterparts, and he begs for forgiveness from Allah for his apostasy.

As the young boy holds a pistol at his side, an ISIS militant recites 3:28 of the Quran, which states:

Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah , except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.

He concludes, “Allah has gifted the Islamic State’s security agency with the apprehension of these two spies,” adding that the two are “now in the custody of the lion cubs of Khilafah.”

He then signals the boy with a pat on the shoulder to begin the execution.

The end of the video shows a clip from November 2014 which shows the same boy and a quote of his aspiration to be a jihadist.

Charlie Winter, a researcher on jihadism in Syria and Iraq at London-based counter-extremism organisation Quilliam, claims the boy has appeared in previous videos released by ISIS.

According to reports, children are being groomed to join the Islamic militant group through “cub camps” targeting children under the age of 16. The children, referred to as “Cubs” in the ISIS propaganda videos, are being taught the principles of jihad at camps across Iraq and Syria.

Russian media RIA Novosti said a representative of the FSB told them it “does not comment on the publication of the video executions allegedly of their agents by the members of the ‘Islamic state,’” according to CBS.

The film is titled “Discovering the enemy in our ranks” in English. While the narrative is in Russian, it can be viewed with English subtitles here.

Folding table collapse kills boy, 7, at NJ school

Folding table collapse kills boy, 7, at NJ school

A bench from a folding table attached to a wall collapsed at a school during a recreational soccer practice, killing a 7-year-old boy preparing for his season opener, officials said.

Brendan Jordan, a student at Gibbs Elementary School in New Milford, was attending an indoor recreation soccer program at the town’s Berkley Street Elementary School on Wednesday night when he came near a fold-down table and benches stored in the wall.

A 108-pound wood and steel bench fell and struck the child in the head, Detective Lt. Frank Ramaci said in a news release. It’s not yet known whether the boy touched the table or bench.

“At this time, there is no evidence of criminality, nor do we know if the bench was properly secured to the wall,” Ramaci said.

School Superintendent Michael Polizzi told The Record newspaper that the table folds vertically into the wall and has benches attached to both sides. It is secured with a key. Polizzi said he didn’t know if it had been properly locked.

He said the tables have been in “good working condition,” and the school has never had a problem with them since they were installed about 11 years ago.

“It’s a tremendous loss for all of us, a shock for the family especially,” Polizzi said. “I can’t imagine the void the family will feel.

School tables have led to students being injured or killed before.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned since the mid-1990s of the potential safety risks of mobile folding tables used in schools across the country, according to spokeswoman Patty Davis. Those tables are different than the ones used in the New Jersey school.

The commission has received reports of several deaths and injuries in schools when the mobile tables tipped over. It warned that most accidents happened during afterschool or nonschool activities and warned schools to not allow children to move the tables or play with them.

Davis said the commission is investigating the New Jersey accident.

John Bigger, the recreation director for New Milford, told The Record that the boy was a member of the borough’s indoor soccer team and was with a group of six 7- and 8-year-old children practicing for their Sunday opener. He said practices in the gym were suspended for a few days while it is inspected, and he doesn’t know if the team will play Sunday.

Grief counselors were made available at both schools.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Police say a 5-year-old girl is dead after an officer watched her father throw her off a bridge early Thursday.

According to St. Petersburg police, an officer was heading southbound toward the Sunshine Skyway Bridge when a Chrysler PT Cruiser passed him going about 100 mph.

The officer tried to stop the suspect, identified as John Nicholas Jonchuck Jr., but when the car was near the top of the Dick Misener Bridge on the approach to the skyway, the officer witnessed the driver stop and throw his daughter, Phoebe Jonchuck, over the side of the rail into the water.

Jonchuck, 25, got back in the car and drove south, and was eventually stopped by Manatee County Sheriff”s deputies about 30 minutes later.

The child was located about an hour later and taken to All Children’s Hospital but was pronounced dead at 2:44 a.m. Thursday, public information officer Yolanda Fernandez said.

Little Girl Dies After Flu Shot

Little Girl Dies After Flu Shot

Media purposefully ignores lethal adverse reactions to vaccines

An Iowa family was left shocked and confused after their three-year-old daughter died from the flu not even three days after she fell ill.

Ayzlee McCarthy, of Elk Horn, spent December 26 running around the house with her siblings and playing with her Christmas gifts: dress-up clothes and a doll of the snowman Olaf from the Disney movie ‘Frozen.’

A day later, her legs ached so badly, she couldn’t walk.

Then on December 28, Ayzlee was rushed to a hospital in Des Moines and hooked up to an IV.

She died the following morning, just 13 days after her third birthday, of influenza A and B with sepsis, The Des Moines Register reported.

Three-year-old Ayzlee McCarthy spent the day after Christmas running around her parents' house in Iowa. The day after, she began showing symptoms of the illness that would cut her life far too short

Her distraught mother, Amber McCarthy, is struggling to understand.

‘She was healthy, she had a flu shot — the whole thing is so unreal,’ Amber McCarthy told the Des Moines Register.

‘This shouldn’t be happening in 2015,’ the mother added.

Ayzlee was an active child, known for her infectious excitement and love of singing popular tunes like ‘Let It Go’ from ‘Frozen.’

She was proud of having recently completed potty training.

Her parents say Ayzlee had spent the day after Christmas running around the house with her siblings. Nothing seemed amiss.

McCarthy took her daughter to a nearby clinic when she began complaining that her legs ached badly.

The mother, a respiratory therapist, at first thought she could have a urinary tract infection.

‘She tested positive for both [influenza] A and B,’ McCarthy told the Register. ‘I never in a million years thought that was what we’d be at the clinic for.’

McCarthy took her daughter home made sure she drank plenty of fluids and gave her ibuprofen.

Ayzlee seemed to be feeling better on December 27. She watched cartoons while her mom cooked for her.

‘I made her some toast, and she told me what a good ‘cooker’ I was,’ McCarthy told the Register.

But later in the day, something changed.

‘She sat there looking through me and not at me,’ the mother told the Register. ‘I knew something was not right.’

McCarthy took her to a nearby hospital, where Ayzlee was hooked up to an IV and seemed to not recognize her mother. She was eventually transferred to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, but her condition continued to worsen.

‘She kept saying how tired she was,’ McCarthy, who spent the night lying with Ayzlee in her hospital bed, told the Register.

Then about 4am on December 29, woke up to her daughter’s labored breathing and racing heart.

‘Mommy, I so tired,’ Ayzlee said. ‘I done.’

McCarthy told her daughter she loved her as nurses intubated her. Her heart stopped beating as the mother watched the procedure from the hallway.

‘They tried three times to bring her back,’ McCarthy told the Register. ‘I said, “Keep doing it.”‘

By the time McCarthy’s husband Jim arrived, Ayzzlee still had a weak heart rate. The parents went in and told their little girl they loved her one last time.

She died minutes later.

California Activists Want Sexual Consent Taught To Kindergartners

California Activists Want Sexual Consent Taught To Kindergartners

Feminist groups insist “consent education” for youngsters will not overtly teach sex ed

kindergarten school kids children child class

Aiming to address the “rape culture” pervasive at college campuses across the country, a student activist group has proposed teaching children as young as five about sexual consent.

An organization called Take Back The Campus, made up of students from three California colleges, has released a list of demands it says will help curb the incidence of campus sexual assaults.

“We recommend consent education in K-12,” one of the group’s three demands reads. “College is too late for people to learn about bodily autonomy and respect.”

In an interview with the Huffington Post, a group supporter had to clear up that “consent” didn’t necessarily have to pertain to sex.

“Consent is not just for intercourse. It’s for all aspects of our lives, and people aren’t understanding or being taught that,” director of the Sexual Assault Commission of the Associated Students of the University of California, Meghan Warner, stated.

“It’s better to focus on everybody, not just the few who attend universities,” Warner added.

Another group supporter, Alejandra Melgoza, also had to clarify that giving youngsters at the kindergarten level “consent education” didn’t always translate to sex ed.

“Concerned parents might think we’re talking about consent in purely sexual context, when really we’re talking on a day-to-day basis,” Melgoza explained. What that basically means is the old “keep your hands to yourself” policy, she said, overlooking the fact that parents are typically capable of tackling this issue on their own.

Take Back the Campus’ demands are essentially a culmination of liberal overkill following the passage of California’s “Yes means yes” law, a convoluted, excessive piece of legislation which requires “an affirmative, unambiguous and conscious decision” by all parties prior to engaging in sexual activity.

Of course there is good reason for parents to be concerned.

One UC Santa Barbara biological science major told Campus Reform she thought “Kids that age shouldn’t be exposed to material like that.”

“A lot of sex ed can be either biased or incorrect, so with that kind of misinformation, it could be pretty damaging to a seven-year-old and their views on sex and relationships later in life,” student Aaron Fulcher expressed.

Indeed, public school sex ed programs are already doing their best to groom children to be potential sexual deviants later on in life, according to a former abortion clinic operator.

“Children are being taught about sex and masturbation in ways that ‘shame the children’ so they will not be comfortable telling their parents what they heard,” head of the Heidi Group Foundation, Carolyn Everett, stated at a Rose Dinner event in Canada, according to the Catholic Register.

A recent federal report found the issue of campus rape to be less pervasive than previously speculated.

“The Bureau of Justice Statistics report also claimed that 6.1 per 1,000 students are victims of sexual assault, debunking the widely quoted 1-in-5 statistic activists previously referenced,” reports Kaitlyn Schallhorn.
